Wow. Years ago on holiday with family in Portugal

My ex brother-in-law was trying to swim in our private pool as he was embarrassed he'd never learnt in his childhood. He was up the shallow end so didn't seem a problem. It was however after a particularly long lunch and after much wine had been consumed. As the only one laying in the sun still half awake I suddenly realised he wasn't splashing around so first thought he'd gone into the villa. Thought I'd better check so walked to the side of the pool to see him laying close to the bottom of of the deep end. Obviously jumped in and brought him to the surface and my ex father-in-law (ex lifeboatman) got him to cough up the water and had him back on his feet in a remarkable recovery. Doctor came and gave him a clean bill of health just to be sure. So easy to happen I guess.
