non-refugees started exploiting legal loopholes to pay traffickers to bring them here, accidentally losing all of their documentation in transit, and then claiming asylum, aided and abetted by various “charities”, activist lawyers and “no borders” leftists. It’s simply unsustainable to have these numbers gate-crashing the country and some sort of disincentive is essential. That’s how we reached this point.
