As an ethnic Scot, I wish to object to the porridge-bashing on here this morning
Porridge is NOT difficult to make and using a microwave to do so is chavness of the highest order.
Take one large mug. Fill with boiling water from kettle and place in saucepan. Repeat, twice (ie three mugs water). Then add one mug of milk. Now fill mug with oats, and empty into saucepan, stirring the while. It is CRUCIAL to add the oats to the liquid, not the other way round, in order to avoid lumps. Repeat with another half a mug of oats. Bring to boil, then turn down to simmer. Ready.
Takes less than 10 minutes, and is delicious as well as healthy. (Poofs can sprinkle with sugar, or add jam, syrup, honey or chopped fruit.) Even a spacker like AB could manage it.
