The wash doesn't...
It contains sulphate, which if the tank has microbes in can get broken down to hydrogen sulphide (which is what you're smelling...).
Not sure how to clean it without mucking up your tubes. (running diluted bleach though would do it, but wouldn't want to be held responsible for any deterioration of the washing system).
You'd have thought some cleaning firm would sell you something...
