Covid in hospitals

I see that for anyone having a hospital op, they need to isolate after PCR test (2-3 days before op), while members of the same household need to isolate too but no need to test

Seems pretty mental to me that everyone attending can’t just take an LFT the night before. And the untested household members can still give it to those attending while they’re isolating. Hardly living with covid ffs. Anyone else had to do this?
