We know why the situation is toxic!

But as is *always* the case in situations like this, your first thought is to show no sympathy for the person that may have been affected, to suggest it actually may never have happened and to explain the behaviour away as an inevitable result of how the club 'handles things'.

You may claim you're not justifying it, but by making the direct cause and effect link, you're equivocating.
