I’m sure he’s a lovely lad. I’m sure he’s given it his best shot and always tried his best. And yeah, maybe I did buy into the hype, and think he could really have been the key for us. I hope he has a brilliant career from here. A bit like young Harry Kane, who was pretty crap for us on loan, but seems to have done okay since.
But it is my opinion that we would have had more points if Gilmour wasn’t in the squad at all. Now I doubt anyone would have predicted that at the start of the season - I certainly didn’t - but it is my view now, having seen what I’ve seen.
