I thought it wouldn't be checked because of "phases of play"
Seemed less advantageous than, eg, when scorer of a goal is standing offside beyond the defensive line, ball played down the line to winger, who squares for previously offside player to tap in. I don't get why that's not offside when the player has a massive advantage over defence by starting beyond them.
