The ‘most likely’ outcome of becoming a billionaire’s play thing is that we become a top end champs team that flirts with the PL occasionally.
There’s a reasonable chance we could get up and then be a lower end PL team for a few years.
There’s also a reasonable chance we go bust when the owner pulls the funding / gets sanctioned / cancelled
It’s quite unlikely that we become a ‘safe’ PL team, whatever one of those is these days.
On the flip side, to my mind the ‘most likely’ outcome of keeping the status quo is that we slip into decline as a plodding but solvent champs team that flirts with both ends of the table.
I don’t think there is an obviously best way forward though I can see the appeal of rolling the dice.
