But when he said any system that offered Boris or Corbyn as the two potential PMs was clearly broken, he was right. It's not just us: see US, France, etc for plenty of other examples. Starmer would be competent if unexciting and there are Tories who also fit that mould but none of them is currently leader nor likely to become leader. It's not great, really, is it?
