Most football managers are pigheaded and arrogant.

It's almost part of the job.

In fact, so few are the times when a manager admits their mistakes, I would offer to the discussion the suggestion that it is actually in THESE times where the manager is doing the PR job, perhaps (Merson in mind) with a view to a last ditch effort to saving his job...
