Gunn had already earned a big money move after having a really good (and consistent) year with us - from that viewpoint someone *else* has already shelled out hard cash for his services. Despite all the talk, have we ever actually received a bid for Todd?

Gunn, having started out with us, and then come back for a year, is a known quantity to the staff, the club and to the fans (alongside a lot of goodwill through his dad).

Todd is known to *us* so, in certain ways we're the only ones with an inside track on what he's like, 'in the building' - with the exception of Fortuna Stittard the Dutch team he played for (wages) or following Farke (no comment).

So, we paid a premium for Gunn, on the basis that we knew him and he knew us - making the 'project' less risky on either side.

Todd had a good half season in the Prem, but, unlike Emi, didn't then really kick on again in the Champs last year and has looked woeful this. The trajectory isn't compelling and he doesn't look ready to hit the ground running.

It's also really hard to know his expectations - on the one hand he seems upset not to be in the team, yet unlike the great leaps he made between his time in Holland and that breakthrough Champs season and then subsequent leap in performance before the first season in the Prem, something isn't clicking. Noticeably.

If he's seeking assurances of regular game time, you could see that driving people elsewhere.

Just hope it gets resolved quickly for all concerned.
