FAO SiH, re weddings
we looked into the costs of a wedding in norfolk before deciding to do the big day over here, and my sister got married in wymondham a couple of years ago. The main variable is the number of wedding guests, but if you're counting on inviting 100 guests i reckon an average price would be 10k.
A grand for a dress isn't THAT steep - the dress will not cost less than 600 quid and the accessories (veil, gloves, bag, necklace, shoes, underwear) add up very quickly.
I don't think you'll find a photographer for less than 400 quid, but this depends on what you want (if you're happy with an amateur/hobbyist who just takes pics at the end of the ceremony it's a lot cheaper than having a professional around all day and buying the rights to all his photos).
A nice cake is about 100 quid.
As for a bar, i've no idea - that's the dilemna we're facing at the moment, do we risk having a free bar, do we just pay for one drink per person or what (things are complicated byt he fact that french weddings never have anything but champagne available after the meal).
Let me know how you get on.
