And it's something more for me: I rarely see my family (or old friends) these days of course, and my other half has hardly met most of them, so the party side is partially for exactly that reason - they can at least meet once !

As for the actual marriage. Don't overestimate the romantic side. We're both at least of average intelligence and are able to work out the return in tax vs investment...
