Would it not be worth a punt on one of these now on the basis that they will still do a job for us next season if we go down.

For example, how much would it cost to get Max Bird from Derby given their current woes?

I caveat this by saying that I have not seen many of these players play but several of them are at clubs that don;t have a lot of cash.
