The players that have come through in the farke era are from the development done several years ago, it will take time to see the rewards from what we’ve put into it.
With regard to 2, I don’t think smith quite has the right balance of players to implement the style he really wants to yet. I don’t think we’re going to completely change style, smith still likes good football, doesn’t he?
When it comes down to it, farke’s style was fantastic in the championship with Buendia, but it didn’t seem like there was any real chance of it working in the PL without spending money that we just don’t have and aren’t likely to have any time soon.
My thinking is that we’ve actually massively over performed for the last few seasons and largely that was down to signing Emi and pukki so cheaply. It’s not realistic to expect us to be able to keep plucking that kind of bargain out of thin air.
There are a lot of negatives at the moment, but a lot to be proud of too.
