Our 4-2-3-1 always tended towards

Switching between a wingbacky 5-1-3-1 and the holding midfielders of that formation (with skipp or Tettey dropping into the defence to give max or Jamal the license to bomb onwards).

Crucially it gave us some control and creativity in the centre of the pitch.

Rupp has looked okay in that role too tbh.
