Yeah weird hentut. My head is full of cotton wool, I sleep f**king weird times and all the time and not enough, hotter today and the cough is worse and a tight/heavy-feeling chest.

And yet it's a few weeks after I got boosterated so my immune system could not be more primed to fight the f**ker off. I'd have to be really unlucky not to manage that at home. The odds are very much in my favour, though nothing is guaranteed.

So in a sense I feel incredibly lucky. Lucky to live in a place where I can actually hole up for the duration and there's enough support to get food to my door. Lucky to live in a country where people like me have access to multiple jabs. Lucky enough to actually have the money to pay for two weeks' food while not doing any work. That's a lot more lucky than an awful lot of people, and I'm grateful for that.

I also signed up for a clinical trial, they might ask you to as well.

I never did stop masking up indoors and wish a lot more people had done the same - I was definitely in a minority in e.g. Chapelfield and in the Barclay concourse I was one of only a handful. I actually walked out of the bar at HT rather than get a drink, it made me that uneasy. I hope enough other people start masking up routinely; I hope people not yet jabbed come forward; I hope social distancing becomes more meaningful again. All fairly small things that together make a big difference.

I hope it goes well for you, plenty of bed rest and fluids and accept you're not doing anything for a couple of weeks. It f**king exhausts me, anyway.

And I think your approach - "cautious not cowed" - is bang on. In fact that should be some kind of slogan, it's so well written.
