Local media is an incredibly difficult business these days

People expect free and will usually make do with free content even if better content is affordably available. PinkUn must be hoping there’s a gap between what’s freely out there and The Athletic. I’m not sure there is but I do hope they make some kind of success of it. I’m not signing up mind because everything I want I can get from other sources and I suspect I’m far from alone.

There is an interesting model run by Axate but again I have no clue if anyone is actually making it pay enough to be sustainable long term.
