I think the simple answer is that Neil took over while we were drifting down the Champ

and our run to the play off final, plus the day itself bought him a lot of credit.

Hughton took over a side that had been making huge strides for three straight seasons.

Definitely deserves credit for the following season but it all went south after that.

So, bottom line, he left us in a worse position than he found us.
