Cautiously optimistic about Smith

Has done well at Villa under considerable pressure, and has a good record of improving, or getting the best out of star players and big signings, at least until this season (Grealish, Abraham, Mings, Martinez...)

I think a lot of the negativity is down to the fact that he has just been sacked. If Farke had left in the summer and we would have been able to poach Smith from Villa at that point, it would seem like an incredible coup. He's only had a short run of bad form since then, no sign he is a busted flush or anything like that.
