I was delighted when Danny Mills left Norwich. He was st for us and a hotheaded tt

But we were also s**t for him. He went on to show how good he was at other clubs - but he was at Norwich between 1994 and 1998, one of the worst four-year stretches in our history. We must've been a s**t club to be at then for a whole bunch of players, let alone just him.

In his comments after the Tottenham game in 2014 (time flies!), he highlighted McNally's awful handling of the Hughton situation (correct); how appalling Van Wolfswinkel was (correct: he was the worst signing in our history); and our lack of confidence and attacking teamplay. Also correct. It's just that we were up against opponents managed (sic) by Tim Sherwood, for goodness' sake.

He basically said what most of us had been saying all season long - and we call him 'bitter' for that? Really?

But in any case: we failed to get anything like the best out of him. So he was plainly unhappy at Norwich - like plenty of employees are at plenty of employers. I wouldn't expect them to lie and talk about how wonderful their time was, and I don't expect him to either.

For a player as limited as he was to have gone so far in the game was probably down to bloody-mindedness as much as anything else. But in his time here, we were the absolute opposite of a bloody-minded club. We were the Costa del Norwich, and I imagine it pissed him off.

We ended up into a new, better era without him; he got the best out of himself elsewhere. Win-win. I'm much, much more offended by Andy Townsend's efforts to airbrush us out of his history than anything Mills says. His attitude during the 2013 FA Youth Cup Final v Chelsea said it all for me - an incredible achievement by us, yet all he did was whine.
