DF/SW extension press news in....

Updates from Daniel Farke's press conference following the signing of his contract extension.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

DF: Well there are always many topic to speak about, when you have an important and long term decision to make. But we made it quite clear early on that both parties we were willing to find a solution.

DF: As a manager your focus is always on the short term. We spoke about our long term vision when I walked through the door four years ago. I wanted to create consitency and play one day in top level in the Premier League in the top 20. We have acheived this consitency. It is four years of consitency and know it is about making the next steps.

DF: The next step now is to become an established member of the Premier League. We want to take the next step to make sure it is five or six years in a row at the top level. We are not naive and think that we will be fighting Premier League title or for Europe but that we develop the club. This is our aim to make out of this club.

DF: In my craziest dreams. I go into each an every game wanting to win the game and if we win all the games we win the title, but we are not naive. If you gave me a letter that said we would finish 17th next season, I wouldn't sign it. I just want to say after next season, that we have done the best out of our opportunity, that we have delivered our best performance.

DF: Of course I sensed this could be a perfect fit, because I wouldn't sign the contract if I did. I feel humble because as a manager I have been able to stay here and create something special. I am grateful for the support and trust of our owners Delia and Michael. They are fantastic owners and fantastic human beings.

DF: I never speak about rumours or possibilities or what ifs. I am just doing things that I am 100 per cent convinced of. I stand for special values and a special brand of football and as long.

DF: I like to work with the best players in the world. I would like to keep all our best players, but our way is a self-funding club and we have to create and develop players and this is the way we have to go and if a player has outgrown the club and the money is right then we have to look at this, but we don't have any pressure or any need to sell our best players.

SW: It was incredibly easy. There was never any doubt from either side. It was about working for the common goal. Why would you want to change it when there is success to be had with each other. What is plain to see from everybody inside and outside of the club this is a group of people work very hard for the club. We are all in it together and we all want the same things.

DF: It is really in this business to judge the transfer window once the transfer window is done. The first decision was the outgoing of Emi Buendia but it was good that this was done early on. I am really pleased with our signings so far and it is about finding those final pieces to make sure that we are competitive on the top level.

SW: It is about who is available and who is willing to come. We are one of the teams who has done the most business and we have still got a lot more to do. There is a lot of paranoia at the minute in terms of clubs worried about selling at the moment when that players could be worth a lot more in six weeks time, and I understand that. Sometimes you have to be patient, because the deals get better as the season goes on.

DF: The talks were quite relaxed. It was quite easy and it was more about talking about the long term picture. They were good talks and clear from the first day that it was going to get to a positive solution.

DF: We both agreed that it was important to do it before the start of the season because it could be a topic for the supporters or the players, but I was not too carried away with this.

DF: Each and every manager and each and every players has to learn and develop in each and every moment. Hopefully, we develop and learn each and every day. I wouldn't speak too much about lessons learned from two years ago. We are unbelievable honest because I said at the time that we need a miracle to stay at this level. There were too many odds against us. We had to play all of our last games in front of an empty Carrow Road. Now, I get the feeling we are still an underdog but I wouldn't label it a miracle if we stay at the top level.

DF: Teemu (Pukki) and Tim (Krul) have been back and they could be involved (against Huddersfield. Ben Gibson has been involved in team training and so has Grant Hanley. It could be that the game comes too soon for him.

SW: (Buendía) It is always a tough decision. We don't want to sell your best players, but his representatives made it very clear, respectfully, early on and then when you know you can't change their mind it becomes a business transaction. It was done early and we could have done some more of plans more aggressively and more early than we could have done. It is not a numbers game. It is about quality and saying doing we have a better starting XI than we had on July 1 and do we have a better squad than we did on July 1.

DF: You always need the backing, when you want to work in this industry, from your family. I have this backing. We are all human beings, we all have private lives and you speak about these topics. I signed a contract fully convinced and fully happy. I have found a second home here in England and my blood, as a I have said before, is yellow.

DF: Not the greediness or the hunger, but the experience (feels different) because it is not the first time you go to the Etihad or Anfield. However, there is still the same hunger and same greediness.

SW: I have got used to the (expectation) over the past four years. It is definitely one of the most challenging at a club like this, because with our fanbase there is an expectation for us to be successful. It is a real tough balance but an exciting part of the challenge. We have lost £35m through this pandemic and we are coming through it without any debt, without the need for outside investment and we should be and the fans should be proud of that.

SW: It is of course difficult because you have to attract a differrent level of quality. When you get to the Premier League now it is harder because the figures are mind blowing to be honest. When we were ringing about players two years ago nobody was taking us seriously but people are treating us a bit differently.

SW: (Covid) Slightly. We didn't have to sell Emi (Buendía). It was slightly more with Ben Godfrey last summer when it became apparent that supporters were not going to be allowed in September it became apparent that they wouldn't be allowed in during December and January. We have income streams and one of those is player trading and when fans are not allowed in then that hits player trading.

SW: I think it is a market where people are paranoid and it is going to be good for you guys on transfer deadline days, but there will be a lot of panicking for clubs across Europe.
