Big Grant Hanley signs a four year extension...

Norwich City captain Grant Hanley has signed a new contract extension, keeping him at the club until June 2025.

Hanley initially signed for the Canaries from Newcastle United in August 2017 and went on to make 32 appearances in the Championship that season.

He featured less regularly during the 2018-19 title winning campaign, but returned to the starting line-up for 15 Premier League fixtures the following season.

Last season was Hanley’s best in a Norwich shirt, playing 42 games in the Championship from mid-October to the end of the season, ultimately lifting the title at Barnsley in May.

The City captain has had a busy summer too, impressing for Scotland at Euro 2020 before unfortunately suffering an injury as his nation were knocked out during the group stages.

Hanley was second behind Emi Buendia in 2020-21’s Player of the Season vote and has now made a total of 106 first-team appearances for Norwich.

After putting pen to paper, Hanley said: “I'm over the moon. For me, I'm very grateful for the opportunity I've been given.

"Since the moment I walked through the door, It's been so welcoming and and they've made me feel part of something.

"To commit my future here means a lot to me and my family as well. My partner loves it here and it's such a nice play to live.

"I have a little girl now who's nearly a year old. Everything about the place is great and I'm really pleased."

Daniel Farke added: “It is great news for us. We’re absolutely delighted to have Grant with us for the coming years.

“I have been working with him for many years now and it has been a joy and a pleasure. He’s a great character and also our club captain. He is a great footballer and a great personality in the dressing room.

“We need his quality and also his personality to be successful. It is great that he has committed his future to the football club.”
