The concern when I went there...
...were the deer, as they were also controlled by human hunting but had undergone huge population growth. They also travelled far and wide, clearly in and out of the exclusion zone. That then becomes hard to control radiation in the population.
It was very sad in the early days. Some farmers chose to stay behind and care for their animals, putting themselves in danger. Lots of animals broke free out of hunger and desperation.
