Sale of players

Firstly - yes this is a new user name i have changed it as my old one ties me in to my brother who is a member of the "supporter panel" and I need to distance myself from that as my opinions are completely independent of his.

I think amongst all the angst about the sale of Emi (and possibly others) everyone is missing a couple of things

Firstly there is no such thing as a "non selling club" there are just invisible tiers within the structure - the biggest clubs buy and sell in the 100m plus price range, the second tier sell for around 100m and buy for 25 to 40m we are now in the next tier that buys for up to 10m and sells for 25 to 30m having just left the tier that sells for 10m and buys for 2.5m - 1p5wich despite their mega ownders and bravado are still in the tier of selling at up to 2m and buying for 500K.

Secondly I think the only people who can criticise Emi for making the move are only those who have never considered moving from their job to another where the prospects seem better for them, whether in terms of wages, opportunities or even becaust they think that they have aquired skills from their former employer that they believe can earn them more money if they move elsewhere.

The only difference with Football is that there is compensation paid to the former employer for the loss of use of the individual concerned whereas everywhere else they have no way of stopping them.

Thirdly and this applies to all jobs as well as football, there is no longer such a thing as a job for life. -
I used to work for a major company in the world of "Risk"I was on their consultative body where the CEO explained to us that they no longer worked on the basis of long service from employees to drive the business and having a culture where a trainee could rise to be the CEO. - The view was buy in cheap, learn as much from them as they learn from you and if they want to leave in four or five years let them go as they may become complacent otherwise. (Ironically 10 years later the global CEO of one of the major divisions is someone that started as a trainee!)

I personally don't care about the money paid or not paid, I believe that because there was a "gentlemans agreement" in place they have spent the last year analysing replacements and have a shortlist of opportunities lined up that they are talking to but unlike some other clubs they are fairly good at keeping quiet until the deal is done.
