I am not sure Max is a good example

Neither Max nor Jamal were released by Luton.

We could recruit them because of our Cat 1 Academy (I believe that Luton's relegation from FL made this easier)

Without an Acad setup I do not believe Brentford can recruit anyone under the age of 17.
