Pushing the boat out for Skipp

Would be fully understandable in my opinion. I'm more worried about replacing Skipp than Emi.

Getting him on loan for a year would be great.

Buying him for around £10M (plus potentially extensive add-ons) would be money well spent. (consider Amadou was rated around £9M).

£20M looks a bit rich. He's a promising player who has shown he's up to the champs. His youth will inflate the fee further.

But, in the same way I'd have taken Rhodes when we last went up, I think it's quite hard to put a value on having a player who knows the team and is settled. We need to hit the ground running and I think Skipp would help us with that immeasurably.

How much Skipp is worth really depends on how high you think his ceiling is.

Once you're getting into £20M territory I think you can argue that we could look at using that instead for two or three signings from abroad or with more experience - they might take longer to settle, but that would hedge against injury etc. (no matter how critical a player is, a season/career ending injury is always a possibility)
