then comes back and says theres nothing out there to buy

Then gets loads of loans/deals (ala etuhu) that don't work out and six of our squad end up a) not being our players and b) worthy freezes the loans out after a couple of bad games hence wasting wages on loans that aren't doing the club any good

But hey ho, give him to xmas
