So how many points does it take to stay up in the PL?
Lets ignore GD
2000-01 35
2001-02 37
2002-03 43
2003-04 34
2004-05 34
2005-06 35
2006-07 39
2007-08 37
2008-09 35
2009-10 40
2010-11 40
2011-12 37
2012-13 37
2013-14 34
2014-15 36
2015-16 38
2016-17 35
2017-18 34
2018-19 35
2019-20 35
2020-21 (almost certainly less than 34)
The average is roughly 36.3 points but....
Its clearly a small data set but it could be reasonably argued that the more recent results are more relevant as the gap grows between the top clubs and the rest of the PL.
Last 5 seasons its less than 34.6 points
Last 10 seasons its an average 35.55 points
Previous 11 seasons before that its 37.18 points.
Feel free to draw your own conclusions.
