I thought it was a bloody good defensive performance.
All with 2 of our back 4 missing. We let them have the outsides and kept it tight in the middle, they produced just one or two good crosses the rest we defended relatively comfortably. I also thought Xavi and Todd handled Sarr, their one outlet, well. They stood him up and kept him at as length from our goal.
Watford also closed us out really well too with a niggling physicality. Our plan B, of using Płacheta and Onel to run them into the ground doesn't work if we don't release them with the right balls, both need it in front of them and not to feet.
Watford are selling Sarr away from becoming the next Burnley. I would rather watch us struggle playing they way we do than endure having to watch that every week. Unfortunately even Brighton have given up on playing better football for a physical approach.
