On the bright side, they've got the right manager for the job imho

Cook has form in sack-everyone-hire-everyone-else kind of scenarios and while I have my doubts at championship level, let alone higher, he's one of the better managers at L1/L2. I thought it was a good appointment and still do.

One of the new owners tweeted "God have mercy on League One, because we won't". So there's an amount of cultural assimilation needs to go on there, really, and maybe expectation management. Coming down will be Sheffield Weds who I think will tear up that division next term. Other auto place is up for grabs, but there are plenty of bigger clubs than Ipswich who will be looking to grab it. Throwing money at the wall and seeing what sticks isn't the answer.

Ashton is an interesting appointment: hated by the fans but he's certainly progressed Bristol while there and he knows enough to know what kind of structural changes might be needed. I've no idea how Bristol's yoof are doing, mind, and Ipswich have a real problem with their academy (but that's one area they really could just throw some money at and see rapid improvement).

I reckon they're a decent bet for playoffs next term, and we all know those are a lottery. I might be wrong and they might not make it. I don't think auto will be in their grasp just yet, they need to fix so much else which will feed into first team performance and that will take a couple of years to show results at first team level really.

And Portman Road still needs that lick of paint, for the love of God.
