I don't think it is political

because these recommendations to suspend are coming from health authorities, not politicians.

It's surely just common sense to be cautious about something that has put a number of young adults in intensive care. The fact that there haven't been a similar levels of side effects in the UK suggests there might be a dodgy batch going around, which really does need to be investigated.
