My conspiracy theory
Traditionally many Indian test wickets have been roads that only misbehave late on day four and on day five. India generally favour this as their batsmen can fill their boots on a flat track and everyone gets to praise whoever the current hero is (Sachin, Kohli etc). They went that way in the first test but it didn’t go their way, so decided to opt for pitches that turn sharply from day one knowing that whatever happens they can play spin better than England. Now they’re ahead in the series they potentially have a choice of a total road to make a draw more likely (and therefore a guaranteed place in the world test final at Lords in June) or another rank turner that England will collapse on. Either way they get what they want. Ironically the flat track scenario might give England a glimmer of hope, so they might opt for a turner where the game is over in 5 mins. Either way we’re most likely stuffed
