Absolutely reeks of the rubbish thinking which left us with Gunn.

Director of football is a job which Webber has shown that you need a really deep skill set for, not nostalgia and 10years out of the game.

Butcher has been s**t at management and by promoting Dyer from within you'd not get the lift of finding unexplored gems from their career away from the club.

That a lot of the commenting fans like the idea (to some degree) just shows how out of date even the fanbase is with what a well structured club looks like these days. Picking people with a skill set that was moulded decades ago is unlikely to be the route to success they believe it will be.
