the stamina thing is kind of dependant on the ground

The ground should be good, meaning stamina is less of an issue. I personally think horses who have run well in long races at cheltenham are worth a look. Wouldn't back anything that wasn't proven over 3 + miles though

I personally fancy Hedgehunter, much as the stats and gold cup exertions are against him.
