Although they might lose Dean Whitehead to one of the promoted teams - possibly Liam Lawrence (!) to some mid-rank Prem team's reserves.
McCarthy was doing an absolutely atrocious job at Sunderland this season - did well to turn the club around after 2003 but was clearly horrendously out of his depth - far more so than Worthington was last season.
