I would say its exactly the opposite with Leitner

when he plays well, the whole team plays well. The Newcastle win last year probably being the best example of that.

When he doesn't play well (or doesn't play), the team lacks fluidity and generally doesn't play well.

He's not out of the team because he's ineffective. He's out of the team because he's fallen out with Farke. Something which both men could and should put behind them, imo.
