Until Vrancic came into the side (after Leitner was injured)
He was the first midfielder on the team sheet in our promotion season. He was excellent in the autumn period when our good run started.
He only didn't get back into the team because Vrancic was superb through to his injury in Feb. In my memory, from Feb onwards, we had some great performances, but I felt we controlled games better in the periods of the season that we had Leitner or Vrancic alongside Trybull. But that was the period where in Farke's mind, McLean became undroppable.
Personally, I still think we'd be better with Skipp and one of Vrancic and Leitner in midfield than Rupp. Rupp has done alright (quite well in some games) this season, but he doesn't have the range of passing that can quickly change momentum in an attack. Nor does Kenny. The downside of Leitner and Vrancic of course, is that they aren't very physical and don't help us be more solid. But it's not as if we look solid anyway, so I don't think we should try too hard on that.
