he was certainly ineffective against Fulham but a bit harsh to assume that was because he didn't care. More like the fact that (thanks to wonderful management) once Holt came on for Safri in the 1st half he was playing as a 1 man midfield against Fulham's classy 5 man one. Our other non-defenders comprising Ashton/Leon (attackers), Bentley/Hucks (both nominally midfielders but neither of whom can be arsed to do anything remotely useful when the opposition have the ball) and Holt (traffic cone). I think Steven Gerrard would be totally ineffective under those circumstances
