How do you sell a popular player without getting grief from the fans?

One way is to make it look like it was the player who was causing problems isn’t it?

Oldest trick in the book. I don’t know perhaps you offer them a derisory contract which you know they will turn down? Then you say “he wouldn’t sign a contract” - perfect excuse to bank a few quid abs not get stick from the fans for it.

Now we have Emi being left out of match day squads and no really proper explanation given for it. Just done cryptic sh*t that leads fans to conclude he wants out and perhaps we are better off without a player who doesn’t want to play for us.

Still people can believe what they want to believe. Fact remains had we actually properly tried to stay up last season we may have done and could maybe have built a team around some of these players rather than cashing in to keep Delias train set running for a few more years.
