So much of how we play depends on how the midfield clicks

Not criticising the new guys, but I don't think the midfield 5 we've played these last two games are on the same wavelength yet.

I think if we'd played Tettey instead of Skipp there would have been greater solidity and, from that, fluency. But I think it makes sense to play Skipp to get him up to speed with the team ASAP.

In the same way, I think platchetta is a more natural replacement for emi, but again, I reckon it makes sense to hold him back until they tire (at least to begin with).

I don't think Todd is making the no 10 position his own yet either.

A bit like two seasons ago, I can see the planning, just not sure that the pieces have slipped into place yet. Suspect McLean is there for his experience - I quite like him when he's on his game, but again, not really clicking yet.

Am sure there'll be some light shuffling as we find the right blend of players in the centre of the park. Still early days.
