Interesting that Paddy Davitt says they are competing for the same spot, i.e. LCB, and Hanley/Zimmermann competing for the RCB. Also, I was reading that we have an obligation to buy for £8m, triggered by promotion.
This means that, were Godfrey to have a stellar season and we go up, Gibson might not play much and then we will pay £8m anyway. Granted, if Godfrey has a stellar season, we will probably make enough on him that £8m on Gibson will be largely forgotten. I just wonder how 'obligated' we are in such a contract.
I am surprised, as I thought Gibson would be coming into the team pretty quickly but I suspect he will find Godfrey harder to displace in Farke's starting XI than Zimbo or Hanley.
Time will tell, I suppose.
