Sometimes you have to take the lack of quality of the opposition into account too

Chelsea have been very ropey recently and tonight was a continuation of that. Slow passing and no urgency, poor movement in and around the box failing to take advantage of Alonso and (later on ) James’ crosses. Giroud couldn’t shoot to save his life. Krul bailed us out with great saves too, which to me is not great defending.

What annoys me far more is the fact we didn’t once test a goalkeeper who is struggling badly, or test a defence that leaks goals. What annoyed me even more than that was how Farke started Drmic and Rupp yet again, which largely contributed to that lack of attacking quality.

It was a very “little Norwich” performance and some of the praise for a fortunate 1-0 loss with no shots on target comes across that way too, like we’re a plucky league one team away against a big team in a cup tie. I think that attitude throughout the club is why we’ve been relegated with a whimper.
