Actually I think there's two seperate points there.

We all know we're not going to make the play offs, and that we've underachieved this year.

But if the manager isn't motivating the players, and the fans aren't motivating themselves, let alone the players, who else is going to do it ? The players themselves. So let them come up with their little soundbites.

What harm is it doing - like you said earlier, nobody's taking it seriously anymore. It's like that bloke with the headphones who walks round Norwich making motorbike noises. You just leave them to it.
