it's definitely the right thing to do
asking refs to send players off is putting way too much pressure on them. It's impossible to be sure, on one viewing at actual speed, whether or not someone's dived. And if the ref gets it wrong and gives a red card, when someone's been fouled, he ruins the game.
Whereas, 6 camera angles and 3 slow-mo replays later and you can tell all right. Players should know that if they dive, they may get away with it on the day, but it'll be an automatic three-game ban afterwards. Every time.
