Playing a low block with a conservative midfield and no real pace in attack while continuing to overplay at the back is going to keep leading to clear losses with no consolation goals. It’s so easy for teams to press up as they can afford to play a high line and not worry about balls in behind. That means they can fully commit to the high press and pick the Norwich players off as they inevitably make their own comical errors. It has happened so much this season and is a huge part of why we concede so many goals. If you’re going to attempt to play short from deep then you need Vrancic and Leitner, not Rupp and McLean, and even then it might not work.

No surprise we played much better for the first 15 minutes of the second half with Idah and Hernandez on while playing more direct. More of that please. Why Hernandez didn’t start after playing so well against United is beyond me. I don’t think he’s great, but his pace and dribbling adds a different dimension.

Well done Alex Tettey for a good performance out of position. Looked an experienced cb tonight.
