Thought Gusterson was rated? He's been mentioned a few times on here as I recall

I guess at their age it's very difficult to decide who will make it or not. Many (most?) talented youngsters get full contracts and never achieve their apparent potential. Others get released, ply their trade in League 1 & 2 and then get signed by a Prem side for a couple of million.

A guy I used to work with was an apprentice at Crewe when Nicky Butt (I think) was there. He reckoned he was as good as Butt at 16-17, but Butt had total dedication and my mate liked a drink and a smoke and, well, simply couldn't be arsed.
