In a way last night was helpful
As I can now ease myself into the rest of the season and next season in the champs having had the truth laid bare. Yes there are excuses and mitigating factors. But the bottom line is that on way too many occasions we’ve been miles short, like last night. And on the smaller number of occasions when we have been competitive we’ve generally not had enough quality at the front or the back (or midfield) to make it count.
We’re going down, and we deserve to go down as we are the worst team in the league. Villa are dogs**t, but have spent huge sums to at least have some options. Newcastle are dogs**t but don’t let in many goals thanks to bore draw Brucie.
The main issue is this. We’ve got some players who are easy on the eye, but in terms of physicality, we lack the necessary presence all over the pitch. Southampton (on 34 pts going into last night remember) have simply demolished us twice, to illustrate the point.

- 100% agree. It helped kill the ‘maybe if...’ train of thought. (NCFC) - DH Yellow, Jun 20, 09:44:58

- I agree. It’s the hope that kills you and now I have none. Except maybe for the Cup (n/m) (NCFC) - Jim, Jun 20, 09:36:50
