Never were my bag either. Quite liked the first couple of albums to begin with. Then they were overplayed and the third album reheated and rehashed.

One thing that was weird in the 90s was the amount of material bands had to produce for singles/b-sides

There'd often be different tracks on tapes/2*cds/vinyl 12s... Not surprising that quite a few of them burnt out. I remember reading an interview with Loz from Kingmaker who reckoned you needed 25-30 songs to put out an album around then.

There were some really fabulous REM, elastica, kingmaker, pj Harvey b-sides that were almost literally chucked away.

One of my favourite u2 songs was a b-side from that era - lady with the spinning head
